Treatment
Drinking water from the Ranney Collectors is chlorinated in accordance with state and federal drinking water regulations.
During the winter season, drinking water is processed and filtered by the Lloyd L. Hecathorn Turbidity Reduction Facility (TRF) in accordance with standards established by the State of California Department of Health Services.
Following treatment - chlorination year-round and tubidity reduction in the winter - the finished drinking water flows to, and through, two storage tanks - and then into the transmission system which serves HBMWD's municipal customers.
