We are hiring:

Electrician and Instrumentation Technician I

Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District is seeking a motivated individual with electrical and instrumentation skills to add to our team.  Due to increased workload, we have added a new “Level 1” Electrician and Instrumentation Technician position to support our two “Level 2” positions.  While electrical experience is required, training will also be provided.  Under direct supervision, this position will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, program, and calibrate a variety of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment including millivolt systems through high voltage distribution systems, SCADA system equipment, PLC ladder logic programing, wireless communications systems, hydroelectric power generation equipment, water pumps, cranes, and telemetry systems.  This position will also perform other related duties as required.

HBMWD fosters a strong team environment.  The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work both self-sufficiently as well as in a team environment.

While this is typically a Mon-Fri, 7am-3:30pm position, the workload of this position can change on a daily basis and as such, overtime, weekends and holidays are required as needed.  Because this is a Safety-Sensitive Position, a pre-employment physical and drug screen are required.

Candidate must possess valid California driver’s license and have (or be willing to acquire, with the District’s assistance) Grade II Water Distribution (D2) and Grade II Water Treatment (T2) certifications within the first 2 years of employment.  The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $5,881 - $7,148/month, plus a terrific benefits package.  Due to in-progress salary schedule adjustments, this position will receive a 3% salary increase in January 2026.

Employment applications are available online at www.hbmwd.com or at the District Main Office (828 7th Street, Eureka).  Completed applications can be dropped off at the District Main Office or emailed to office@hbmwd.com (you will receive a receipt notification).

Applications accepted until October 28, 2025.
