Executive Assistant/Board Secretary
Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District is seeking a highly organized Executive Assistant/Board Secretary to add to our team.
This detail-oriented position includes all duties related to being the Executive Assistant to the General Manager, including: drafting District correspondence and routine reports; communicating effectively with the General Manager and their direct reports; assist with maintaining schedule and meetings; general filing; making travel arrangements; and performing other administrative duties as assigned and as listed in the job description (hbmwd.com).Computer literate with a high proficiency in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
This position also includes all duties related to the Board Secretary, including: organize, produce, and distribute the Board of Directors’ meeting agenda and Board packet (online and in-person); attends all Board meetings and other meetings as assigned; produce clear, concise minutes for approval by the Board; provide administrative support to the Board of Directors as needed; and make travel arrangements for Directors’ District business trips. While knowledge and familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order and the Ralph M. Brown Act is strongly suggested, we are willing to provide training to the right individual with strong prior experience.
The ideal candidate will have a wide skill-set, able to operate all essential office equipment, be comfortable working in an open office atmosphere, able to retain confidential information, and be open to new challenges and changes as the District continually strives to increase efficiency and streamline processes. HBMWD fosters a strong team environment. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work both self-sufficiently as well as in a team environment.
While this is typically a Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm position, the workload of this position can change and as such, overtime, weekends and holidays may occasionally be required.
A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required. Candidate must possess valid California driver's license.
The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $4,791 - $5,824/month, plus a terrific benefits package.

Seasonal Maintenance Worker
Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District is looking for a seasonal maintenance worker for our facility in Arcata. The hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week, but may also include odd shifts, weekends, or holidays.
Candidate must be able to pass a drug test and physical.
Applicant must possess a valid California driver’s license.
This position will be responsible for a variety of grounds keeping work, right-of-way clearing, painting, and other general maintenance. We are a small team with huge responsibilities so the ideal candidate must be team oriented, highly motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills.
